CAREER READINESS

Preparing Students for Productive & Fulfilling Futures

We believe that there’s nothing more important to a child’s schooling than preparing them for life beyond school. That’s why we place an intense focus on post-secondary pursuits, whether that means attendance at a university or community college, enrollment in a vocational institute, or immediate job placement after high school graduation.

To equip students with the tools and skills they’ll need to succeed as young adults in today’s marketplaces and workspaces, we integrate a wide assortment of career- and job-related themes, activities, and skills training into the curriculum in creative and relevant ways:

  • Vocational Interest Surveys
  • Vocational Training
  • Life Skills Component (e.g., banking, public transportation, housing, making appointments)
  • Career Counseling
  • Workforce Development Initiatives
  • Résumé & Portfolio Building
  • Simulated Job Interviews
  • Job Coaching & Shadowing
  • College Fairs & Campus Tours
  • Assistance with College Applications & Scholarship Forms
  • Partnerships with Local Businesses & Organizations
  • Guest Speakers & Mentors from Various Professions
  • Comprehensive Transitional Services

All of our forward-looking initiatives aim to:

  1. Strengthen our students’ natural abilities and talents
  2. Transfer their school learning to real-life settings
  3. Keep them focused on longer-term goals
  4. Guide them toward career paths that will be most suitable for them and most fulfilling to them

We also offer a kitchen mentoring program right on campus, which provides our students with restaurant training by service industry professionals as they work toward ServSafe® certification. For students interested in pursuing a career in the culinary arts, this program affords opportunities to cater community events and to host special occasions at the school. As the program grows, so too will the program options available to our budding chefs.
